On Tuesday, May 10th, for the DHAI seminar, Benoit Seguin tracked the benefits and obstacles to the use of computational methods in digital humanities through his lecture entitled Beyond the Proof-of-Concept - DHAI Methods in the Real World. In the space of Digital Humanities, Computational Methods are always used in an applied setting, driven by research questions. However, converting these research results into useful tools for researchers unfortunately rarely happens. By taking a step back on different projects he took part in as an independent engineer (large photo-archives analysis, art market price estimation, visualization of text-reuse in architecture treatises, ...). During the lecture he tried to highlight the divide between research interest and end-user interest, and came up with advice on integrating modern ML in DH projects.

Ariane Pinche, postdoctorante à l’École chargée du projet CREMMALAB, Jean-Baptiste Camps, maître de conférences, et Frédéric Duval, professeur de philologie romane, organisent un colloque intitulé « Documents anciens et reconnaissance automatique des écritures manuscrites ». 

Led by Quentin Bernet, the DataVirgo project analyzes the diffusion of an iconographic motif between the 14th and 16th centuries: the Virgin of Humility. It mobilizes digital cartography to serve the formal analysis of works in art history.

La communauté PRAIRIE souhaite développer les aspects interdisciplinaires IA/SHS dans le périmètre de PRAIRIE et, en particulier, les projets originaux mettant en avant les apports des SHS à la réflexion sur les usages de l’IA. L’appel est donc ouvert aux chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs employés par l’un des établissements partenaires de PRAIRIE et rattachés à une unité de recherche du périmètre. Les projets proposés doivent présenter un aspect interdisciplinaire fort. Ils pourront recevoir jusqu’à 100 000€ de financement.
