Field of research
The EcdoTech group was created around members of the scientific information team of the Jean Pépin Center who wanted to deepen their research and development work around the axis of text editing and the implications of using digital tools to describe, report and edit these texts. The current members all have academic and professional backgrounds in textual sources, whether in paleography, codicology, source analysis, textual editing, DTP, etc. EcdoTech is working on the "Marcianus" project (xml-TEI encoding of a Venetian anthological manuscript), the CIRIS bibliographic database, and offers a training seminar on text editing issues. Some members of the group are also personally involved in digital humanities projects outside the team (Mapping of ancient philosophers project, Epicurei project hosted by the EMAN platform).

Seminar
From 2019: Analysis and editing of ancient sources: what tools in the digital age?
Every other Wednesday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Seminar room of the Center for Ancient Studies (RDC, corridor AB). ENS, 45 rue d'Ulm, 75005 Paris.
The analysis and editing of Greek and Latin texts requires the use of a wide variety of tools: corpora, dictionaries, manuscript catalogs, etc. Computerization and the development of online resources allow new approaches to this work. This reconfiguration raises many questions: durability and updating of editions, identification of objects, referencing of data, etc. But this turning point in the philological sciences is above all a displacement of limits that we have yet to identify.
The seminar is renewed for 2021-2022. The first session will take place on 30/09/2021.
