I am studying for a double master’s degree in Art history and archeology at the École Pratique des Hautes-PSL and in Art, Museology and Curatorial Activities at the University of Bologna. My research focuses on collecting in the first half of the 20th century and more specifically the artist, composer and collector Jacques-Michel Zoubaloff (Tiflis, 1876 - Neuilly-sur-Seine, 1941).
In this monograph, I take a socio-economic approach to the formation of his collection, analysing the collector's network of dealers and his methods of acquisition and promotion of different artistic movements. I study his multiple donations to museums and provide an iconographic analysis of his artistic work, which is of significant value. I am cataloguing all the artworks in his collection - paintings, sculptures, drawings and decorative arts - from the time they entered the Zoubaloff collection to the time they were sold at public auction, in order to answer questions about the collection, provenance and circulation of works of art. The long-term aim is to disseminate this corpus through digital humanities.
